Angelie Discovers Catnip
When Angelie was about 4 months old, my boyfriend and I were getting ready to leave for a week to visit family. As I was preparing to leave, Angelie had a good time inspecting the luggage and I would often catch her taking a nap on top of my suitcase or hidden amongst bags filled with odds and ends we were taking home.

The morning finally arrived that we were leaving. Angelie was all excited over the activity and was keeping a close eye on things. I got her food and water ready for her and did a final check of things before leaving. The luggage was loaded and it was time to leave, so I said my goodbyes to Angelie and off we went.
As we were well on our way, I suddenly remembered that I forgot to put the full bag of catnip that Angelie's grandmother had given her away in a drawer. Some time ago, I had placed it on top of the fridge so I would remember to give it to Angelie when she was old enough. Then I thought that it would be no big deal because Angelie was too little to jump up on the counter and then jump up to the top of the fridge. I was wrong.
We had a good time visiting with friends and family for a week and from time to time, I would wonder how my little Angelie was doing. My boyfriend would say not to worry because Angelie was probably having fun running around the house breaking every rule. He said she probably spent the week sleeping on the couch, scratching the furniture, and playing in the plants.
When we finally got home after a week away, I was anxious to see my little Angelie. I missed her and I was worried that she would be okay while we were gone. We get inside the house and Angelie was right at the door. She went right for the bags and luggage, completely ignoring us, to see what we brought home. As we began to unwind and walk through the house, everything seemed fine. The plants were still in one piece. She still had plenty of food and water and it didn't look like she got into anything she wasn't supposed to.
Then I went to the fridge to get something to drink. As I opened the fridge, tiny pieces of catnip came falling from the top of the fridge. I grabbed a chair and stood on it to see what Angelie did. Here, she had managed to jump up on the counter, then jump up to the top of the fridge and rip open a full bag of catnip. The entire bag was gone. All that remained was just a trace of the catnip that once filled the bag. I could not believe it. I just never thought she had the strength in her little legs to jump on the counter in the first place, then to find her way to the top of the fridge. She was only 4 months old and just a tiny kitten. I have no idea what day she found the catnip, but considering that the plants were in one piece and it appeared she was a good girl all week, she was probably high on catnip for the better part of the week.
